"The Book of Want" at Tía Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore!

Come join me at the incomparable Tía Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore as I read from my new novel, The Book of Want (University of Arizona Press).

Praise for the book includes this from Los Angeles Magazine: "His brand of magical realism has a sense of humor about itself, and he succeeds in harnessing the genre's unique ability to expose what's beneath the surface." And ForeWord Magazine just gave it a wonderful review in its May/June print edition which concludes: “It’s a work of realism...but not without a dose of the magic—linking it with important works of Latino literature. The Book of Want is one such important work.”

Note that this is my last scheduled book appearance for my new novel, so if you haven’t had a chance to come to my previous appearances, now is your chance!

When: Saturday, May 28, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Where: Tía Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore, 13197-A Gladstone Ave., Sylmar, CA 91342

◙ Reed Johnson, writing for the Los Angeles Times, reviewed The FSG Book of Twentieth-Century Latin American Poetry: An Anthology (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), edited by Ilan Stavans, where he opines, in part: “Poetry in Latin America is still serious business and, as this fine collection reminds us, valued sustenance.” Read the entire review here.

◙ All done. So, until next Monday, enjoy the intervening posts from my compadres y comadres at La Bloga. And remember: ¡Lea un libro!
